NO!!! I have two dogs and was extremely careful when I had my baby 3 years ago, that they were never around her without adult supervision! I still follow that rule. DOGS SHOULD NOT NIBBLE BABY TOES!! Or anything that is not a toy, for that matter. The recent news article of a baby girl whose toes were chewed off by the family dog should give you an answer once and for all! The parents are in jail pending an investigation of child abuse and criminal neglect!

Well I think you're grasped that it's not ok to let the puppy nibble on the baby's toes....

So, how to encourage good behavior? Make srure that you have gummy toys around for the puppy. He/She is ost likely teething and wants something soft and squishy to chew on, just like your baby will. So, invest in some Nylabone Gummy Puppy bones. Make sure you get the size that's appropriate for the dog... my dog (shih-tzu) chews on petites. She really likes the flavored gummy bones.

As fas as the chewing behavior itself, the dog most likely equates your baby as kin... nibbling each other is typical puppy behavior. You should still discourage it though. You can always use that bitter nailpolish that is used to get kids to stop biting their nails and paint it on the baby;s toes. I would ask your pediatrician about doing this before, just to be on the safe side.

Nooooooooo, that is not okay at all, even if the dog is playing he may accidently nip too hard and hurt the baby without breaking the skin, or worse break the skin and make the baby bleed. You may think it's cute, but this might hurt your baby, and if your dog accidentally hurt your baby, you will feel really bad and I am very sure that you are a wonderful mother, and don't let what truehye bother you, his heart is in the right place (I'm sure) even though he went about it wrong, not everybody is like him.

did you hear the story of the baby 5 weeks ago? The family puppy actually chewed off the baby's toes in the same room as whe parents while they were sleeping (maybe they were drunk or high) anyhow I'd say no, it teaches bad habits if nothing else.

My aunts dogs do it all the time? As long as your dog is nice then I don't think anything bad will happen. Just keep an eye on your dog and the baby.

Uh, probably not a good idea. The dog might be playing, but could accidentally hurt your baby. Then what?

I would not allow it as it tells the dog it is ok to use its teeth on the baby which can incourage rough play and possible harm.

Even though I dout your dog means you baby any harm I wouldn't let him do it. When your baby gets older they can find a few better ways to show their affection for each other.

licking is one thing but nibbling is scarey, even if it is friendly and playful. gently discourage the dog.
