How would you keep your iPod charged during a long international flight?

The flight will be longer than the iPod will last without recharging. Is there usually a power connection available for use by passengers in Economy? I will be flying on Qantas.

There are a number of devices which can charge electronic devices during a flight. My favorites are from iGo, but these will require you to have access to one of the three types of power ports available on a plane. The most common, called "empower" is a funny looking plug with four prongs. The second type is the ciragette-lighter style plug found in a car. The third type of plug would be your typical AC socket. Unfortunately, most of these plugs tend to get located in Business or First class cabins only, so most coach passengers are out of luck.

The Seat Guru may be able to tell you the power port locations on the type of plane you will be on. See the link below.

You may look for one of the battery-add-on type devices. A good place to read up is the Travel Technology forum on Flyertalk. One product to search for is the TuneJuice from Griffin Technology.

Flew Qantas this summer & they had no power ports in Economy - anywhere. Your best bet is an external battery pack that runs on batteries. Check out the reviews at www.ilounge.com. You might also want a dual voltage charger - available at www.magellans.com. Keep in mind you will still need an adapter for the outlet.

If i were you i would look into a external battery pack for your ipod. I have seen many on ebay and my friend had one that he used on his ipod mini that had a operating time of over 100 hours!

Look around for one of those. I flew Quantas and i didn't have a power port in economy. Thats usually for buisness class up.

listening to an entire recording of a few very lengthy opera is nice. Or the kind of suspense novel that i won't be able to placed down. i have not been on a lengthy flight for 4 years now.

i have never flown on qantas, but i have flown on at least 4 or 5 different airlines and not one actually had power ports, even lufthansa which expressly advertised that it had power ports in economy, though in their defense it was on an older plane

best advice, get an external power source, they arent terribly cheap but if you fly alot, or for a long distance

i have not used this type of battery myself, but i intend to buy one for my laptop, this summer i will go to korea, then kazakhstan, then uzbekistan, then return all at once through them all (to get the cheaper round trip tickets) i do not relish the last trip, i love traveling but hate flying, books music and video let me stay sane on the plane
