I live in Australia and you definitely can. The RTA and passports Office have new identification policies that only allow him to change his name on his drivers licence and passport at the NSW Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages. They won't accept the marriage certificate given to your on your wedding day. If he changes his name he will need to change the following:
Drivers licence; voting registration; passport Bank accounts; property title; taxes; insurance etc..These can usually be done with Proof of ID and the marriage licence. I hope this helps. I have been looking up the information as I am getting married in Brisbane, Australia in May this year.
Good Luck!

both religious and civil ceremonies variety extremely besides. some church homes have a particular wording for use contained in the ceremonies, yet many do not. For civil ceremonies, the wording is extraordinarily nicely as a lot because the celebrant. i'm particular if there turned right into a particular wording you probably did (or did not favor), many non secular celebrants might want to accomodate this, and all civil celebrants might want to.

I got stuck with a surname I don't need when my dad walked out on me and my mom. This would be great if I could take the surname from my soon to be wife.....

I am not sure if he can leagally take on your name once he is married but should be able to change it via deed poll after the marriage he just has to put in why he wants to change it and go from there...I wish you luck in the marriage and you are lucky to find someone who wishes to take on your name!

Write the Chamber of Commerce in NSW. Yes, he's sweet!!! But I'm wondering why he either hates his name so much and/or loves yours --- seems odd to me.

You should be able to. If not, you definitely will be able to fight for it and call it a rights issue even if it is not very significant.
I'm Canadian and I wanted my lover to take my name instead of me taking his (even though I have a brother and my lover and I are not having children), but he refused saying that was 'gay' which upset me and so I told him I wouldn't take his name, but then he got this hurt look on his face, so I said I'd take his name. Ugh, at least it's shorter, but even still I'm not sure what I'll do. A combination of our names sounds awful together. You're so lucky.
