will i lose all my drivers if I install Windows XP Pro SP2 on top of WIndows XP Media Centre Edition 2005?

i have a 3G modem that won't work with MCE, but works on XP SP2. But the drivers my laptop need are the ones MCE comes with. ie i bought my laptop with MCE pre-installed

The only perfect solution is to create a "dual boot" environment on your laptop.

At start up you may choose to use XP Pro or Media Center.... all depending on what tasks you want to perform.

Unless the PC manufacturer will provide drivers for XP Pro there is no other way.

( I would just get a different modem ... I went to their website ... how can they not support MCE ... it is XP Pro ..basically )

    Hi.

Well the answer is yes it will wipe some drivers like the TV driver and things to do with Windows Media Edition. But you can get some programs from the iternet where you can keep these files and re-load them after you have installed the new operating system. If you were to look for one of these go to: www.download.com

domicile windows frequently has countless the drivers you'll choose preloaded, and could placed them on at the same time as it installs. regardless of the indisputable fact that, i'd basically bypass on line and receive some new ones. undergo in concepts that if the computing device wasn't operating Media Centre 2005 previously copying the drivers received't inevitably artwork. as an party, an XP pix card motive force, received't artwork with domicile windows Vista etc.

Installing on top of another operating system is not advisable,in fact your computer will be severely damaged - you can only attempt to do so if you are a professional.Having said that, the better way round is to have a dual operating system installed on your computer which you can navigate from time to time
