To Potential home buyers: Is altitude a serious factor in your calculations?

I am refering to the whole global warming issue. Does a consideration of it's effects come into it when you are thinking about where you might buy a house?

Curiously, yes. My last house was near a coastal river, and 6 feet above high water . I was aware of the Global warming issue when I moved.

My present house is 380 feet above sea level. But this wasn't the reason I bought it, obviously.

So yes I was aware of the issue but no, it wasn't a serious factor. Mind you , that was 2 years ago., It might be different NOW.

No, it is not now, but certainly will be in the not-too-distant future. As a Florida resident, I am definitely concerned! Not a matter of if, just when will we be under water? As soon as even the threat of this reality becomes more clear, I predict a devastating blow to the economy as people begin to bail out (pun intended) from all the low-lying coastal areas. If I were looking to buy property on a purely speculative basis, I would only be looking at in-land, preferably mountainous real estate.

Altitude matters with respect to flooding which is more and more important these days, just ask anybody who lives in Carlisle. Matters to people who have radio as a hobby too, as higher=better.
