Who is the best all-around Quarterback in NFL history?
I'm going with Ramblin' Randall Cunningham. He had the arm, the speed, and enough accuracy to make him a great QB. He even had the punting skills (LOL).

Without a doubt John Elway. Marino and Manning are better passers and Vick is a better scrambler, but no one even gets close to Elway in having the total package. Add the intangibles like leadership and poise and no one even holds a candle to Elway.
To those who would say Montana, he was average at best. I could have won Super Bowls at QB with the surrounding cast he had.
Being a Raiders fan I really wish I could say Rich Gannon. Gannon was the greatest for a couple years, but he was not given the opportunity to play enough early in his career.

It's really almost a toss-up. Tarkenton was phenominal, and redefined the position. Unitas seemed to be unbeatable. Starr was the quiet leader that just made things happen. Marino won football games with a basically unknown offense. Montana was the consummate field general, possibly the best two minute QB of all time. Favre is possibly the toughest competitor to ever line up behind center. Montana and Bradshaw both led their respective teams to four Super Bowl victories. So, overall, it looks like Montana, as he was pretty much the whole package. Cunningham may be qualified to carry his jock, but other than that, they don't belong on the same field.

Running QB's are not QB's cause they need to pass not run. I'd say a tie between Troy Aikman and Joe Montana Randall didn't have accuracy he had an arm and ran but look at the QB rating and tell me he had acc. Troy and Joe would throw the ball and hit the WR in the chest when the WR didn't even finish the route. Also P.Manning is a great QB and he never runs.

my opinion of the best all around quarterback is a QB that finds ways to win no matter what. my choice is Joe Montana, so much 4th quarter comebacks using different throwing techniques depending on the situation and winning the games.

WITHOUT QUESTION IT'S DAN MARINO!! you guys, please, do your research! you all know absolutely nothing if you dont say marino was the greatest. look at all his records! all he needed was the superbowl win, which he couldnt get because, hey, in football, you need everyone to play well, its not like basketball, one guy cant do it by himself in the nfl. dont down grade him cause of that, cause the guy has so many records, and just played better than any other qb ever. i know some you idiots will disagree, but thats why youre idiots. look it up yourself, you will all agree.
