how can i access my e-mails on an old yahoo account?
I had problems with my computer, and could not access the internet for a while, when I did Get the internet working I found that I could no longer get into my email account. I have since opened a new account but would like to be able to access my old account because I know I have unread e-mails. could someone please advise me on how I can access this account or even re-open it so that I may be able to use it again. I have tried to contact yahoo direct but do not seem to be able to find anything out. Please help me, but remember I am a novice and do not understand lots of technical talk.

What do you mean that you cannot get into your e-mail acccount? Did you forget the password or is the account not accepting your password? If that is the case, all you have to do is fill out the proper parts of the "Forgot my password" page and request that the password be changed. You will be given the new password on the spot, and you can use it to log into your old account. If it has been more than 3 months since you have logged into your old account, the unread e-mails are more than likely gone and the account will have been de-activated by yahoo. In which case all you have to do is log in and re-activate the account, but you won't get those e-mails back.

Ok, once your account is closed, it will take about 6 months to be able to access your name. That is it will take that long before you can open a yahoo account to get that name. Any email addressed to the old account will get bounced back (sent back to whoever sent it, as undeliverable since no account is open). Now if you remember the sites and the passwords, you can access them and change them to your new ID now. If not, you may be out of luck. And what you are saying is that when you could not access the internet you quit paying on your Yahoo account which would close it down. But for whatever reason it closed down, you will have to wait 6 months before you can get the old name back.

Good thing that you're a novice cause I don't personally know that technical talk. I'm not sure if this will help or not. When I go to my Yahoo e-mail log-in page, ads are flashing on the left side of the screen while I'm typing in password, etc. There is normally an ad that reads "looking for an old flame." It is an ad to help you find former e-mail accounts. My answer is a bit simplistic...I know. I hope it helps all the same. Good luck to ya.

I think you have probably lost those emails on that email address.
Usually if you do not access your email account within so much time, (it varies from provider to provider, but usually 30 days), then that email account is closed and you will lose the emails.
