The sit-up requirement to become a cop?

I know how many sit-ups I have to be able to do, but my question is how do you have to perform the sit-ups? I know they are bent leg situps, but do you get to put your feet under anything? Do you do it with a partner holding your feet or are you feet just free to move. Obviously some ways are more difficult than others. Anyone recall which way they make you do it? I want to make sure I'm training properly for the test?

I think that most will require a partner holding your feet. This serves at least 2 purposes 1.) to ensure that you are actually using your abdominal muscles and not relying on your leg muscles as a "crutch" and 2.) someone to keep count of your sit-ups! I practiced for my police entry test by doing two minute drills of seeing how many I could do within a two-minute span of time. This seems to have worked well as I outperformed all of the men that took the entry test and it served me well throughout the police academy. Good luck to you!

For the NYPD someone holds your feet. I remember that we paired up and did it that way. The requirement is based on your age and gender. I would recommed looking up the requirements on the internet for the department you are trying to enter. Good luck

Not sure about the situps you're talking about. I've only seen them sitting up in a booth at the donut shop.
