I'm 32 years old and I live in Long Island, NY. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology. I also have an Associates Degree in Occupational Studies in Massage Therapy and I am a licensed massage therapist. Yeah, I guess I was addicted to college. :)

  • What's that name of that old Karate movie where....?

There is a lot of training in this movie...particularly I remember men have to walk along with buckets of water in their hands and hold their arms straight out at their sides otherwise if they bring them down some spikes attached to their arms will stab them. Also they have to stick their arm through a small hole lined with spikes and use a stick to spin a small wheel in front of them very fast. There are some other training parts, but I can't remember the movie. It's making me crazy. Anyone know the name? I can't remember any of the actors because I was soooo young when I saw it.

  • How long do cold cuts last in the fridge?

I usually buy Boars Head Ham and Turkey. I keep them in sealed ziploc bags in the fridge. How long will they last? Sometimes I forget they're in there and a week will pass and then I'm wondering if they're okay to eat. Sometimes they seem fine, but I'm still a little scared to eat them so I wind up throwing them out and buying fresh. With the price of them, I feel like I am wasting money.

  • How can I stop animals from chewing my propane tank hose connected to my patio heater?

The hose is typical-kind of a hard black rubber outside. The hose was long and some of it was laying on the ground and maybe that was the problem. But some kind of animal chewed some little holes through the rubber creating a leak. My area is prone to squirrels, maybe mice or racoons. I live in a semi wooded condo. Is there anything I can put on the hose to deter them from chewing it again? I did buy a shorter hose that does not touch the ground.

  • Why do I hear a crackling noise when I breathe in/out only when laying down.?

Been suffering from a cough, fever and low energy for 3 days. I went to the doctor yesterday. He game me some antibiotics and decongestants. I only noticed the crackling thing in the morning while laying in bed. It was really annoying me, so I got up and then it stopped. So I stayed up for a bit then layed back down to see if it would return and, after a few minutes, it did. It sounds/feels like its coming from my upper chest or throat area. It is not stopped by coughing. It doesn't really hurt to breathe it's just annoying to feel and hear and it worries me. Any ideas what could be causing it?

  • How much $ should I give for a wedding that I am a bridesmaid in?

I live in New York. My best friend of 15 years is getting married. We both grew up kind of middle class in a suburban area. I have remained middle class, but she however has become quite successful and now lives in Manhattan. Anyway, I am a bridesmaid in her wedding. I plan on giving a cash gift. I am wondering how much me and my partner should be giving. My partner only knows her through me and is not necessarily her friend. I feel like it should be around $200-$300. Also, does being in the wedding have any bearing on the amount that is appropriate?

  • What bathroom cleaning products are safe for acrylic?

My landlord just had the "Bathroom Fitter" people come in and re-do our tub/tub walls with an all-one-piece acrylic wall and tub thing-a-majig. Anyway, on my old regular tile/grout walls I used to use Comet, Tylex and Clorox Cleanup to get it clean and kill any mold, but now I don't know what to use. I don't want to ruin the finish. The paperwork says to make sure you use a product that is safe for acrylic, but I was checking out some of the labels in the store today and hardly any of them specify whether or not they're safe for acrylic. Help!

  • Question for those who work for the GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION?

I absolutely love dogs and feel a real connection to them. Most dogs love me and get along with me really well. I thought I could put this quality to use in a profession that would make a difference. I am looking into becoming an apprentice guide dog trainer. Is this a rewarding job? Is it frustrating at times if the dog just doesn't seem to be learning something? Does anyone know what positions like this pay? I live Long Island, NY. If you know anything about it or know someone who does it, can you please share your experiences. I have already looked at the website, but I'm looking for real life experiences, opinions and testimonials that I might not necessarily see on the website. Thanks!

  • The sit-up requirement to become a cop?

I know how many sit-ups I have to be able to do, but my question is how do you have to perform the sit-ups? I know they are bent leg situps, but do you get to put your feet under anything? Do you do it with a partner holding your feet or are you feet just free to move. Obviously some ways are more difficult than others. Anyone recall which way they make you do it? I want to make sure I'm training properly for the test?

  • My 10 yr old daughter seems to be developing a stuttering problem?

It doesn't seem to make sense since she has been speaking fine up until a few months ago. She is very intelligent for her age, but does have some social anxiety. She has always told me she is teased sometimes at school, but other than that she's hasn't been through anything major that would be causing her extra stress or anxiety. I read that sometimes that can contribute to it. Should I just be patient and hope that is goes away on it's own? How long should I wait before addressing it and possibly have her see a speech therapist? Right now I'm just pretending like I don't hear it and letting her finish her thoughts. Any other suggestions or experiences with stuttering suddenly at such an old age?

  • I'm thinking of applying to become a COP, but afraid......?

Up until the time I was about 23 or 24 I had never even gotten drunk. I never smoked cigarettes, did drugs or anything. I guess I got curious and was hanging around the wrong person and I tried pot and ecstacy. I probably smoked pot on approx 10 different occasions and maybe did the ecstacy 4 or 5 times until I realized I just didn't want to be involved in drugs and they weren't for me. I never did any other drugs, no acid, no cocaine, no heroine, nothing else. I never touched anything again after that brief period. If I answer completely truthfully during a polygraph test will the fact that I did these drugs disqualify me? even if I'm honest about it?

  • What's the best way to get better at doing PUSH-UPS?

I have to be able to do 15 full body pushups without a break for a physical fitness test. I have 6 months to get ready for it. I can only do maybe 1 or 2 full body, but can do about 10 leaning on my knees instead of feet. What exercises other than trying to do more pushups during my workouts do you recommend?

  • Before you take the Job Standard Physical Ability Test to become a POLICE OFFICER, is there any training?

I'm reading online about the hiring process and after all the background checks and physical and mental exams, you have to complete the Job Standard Test which consists of running and jumping over a 6 foot wall, dragging a victim, firing an inoperative firearm and some other running around tasks. Does this part happen before you get taken into the Academy? I don't even know how to go about training for something like this on my own...such as getting good at surmounting a 6 foot barrier. Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated! I'll be applying for the NYPD.

  • Are the "Police Academy" movies an exaggeration of how the academy really is to become a cop?

Also are you paid anything while you're in the academy? I plan on taking the NY police exam coming up and I was just wondering.

  • Should a weight loss exercise routine also include low resistance weight training as well as cardio?

Primarily I want to lose weight, but I've always been taught that lifting weights (minimal amounts) is important for toning muscles and keeping everything taut as you lose weight. What is your experience regarding this?

  • How much do you tip for a 1 hour massage?

Do you have a standard amount in your mind before you even go in and then adjust it up or down after it's over? What factors affect the tipping? If you can tell the therapist tried to do his/her best for you, but you just didn't like their type of massage will that affect the amount you tip?

  • Are there any FEMALE house painters out there?

I've always wanted to have a job as a painter, but feel like as a woman I'd be passed over because of it. If you own a painting business, have you ever had a woman work for you? If you are a female painter, do you like the work and can you make decent money doing it if you gain the experience?

  • Can someone suggest a NEW JOB idea for me?

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Relations (Sociology/Psych mostly) and an Associates Degree with a license to be a massage therapist. I love being a therapist, but it doesn't offer me any benefits...medical, vacation, sick, 401k etc. I have mostly office work experience, but DO NOT want to get behind a desk again after having a more active job. I'd like a job where I'm pretty active all day long. I live in NY and need to make at least 30,000/yr or $14 per hour. I don't really want to go back for any more schooling since I'm still paying off student loans from the 7 yrs of college I've already attended to get where I am now. Any suggestions?
