No, you're right. People shouldn't generalize.
it is hard to understand though when people in the west are shown television images of thousands of people in Muslim countries marching in the streets saying "Death to America" and some of, (not all, I know), the Muslim clerics themselves declare jihad against westerners.
I would like to see the media show more peace loving Muslims and clerics, but it probably doesn't make for enough of an exciting news story.

Regardless of the religion, the people you mention have forgotten the message of their religion. In regards to what has been happening here in Australia it is wrong, this is not what Australia is we are a nation that once and I repeat once had a reputation of giving the battler (every day person) a damn fair go. The groups of Islamic people who are trying to be a part of this country should be praised not vilified. I personaly have nothing against anyone regardless of their religious beliefs, this is right in this country and must be respected and it goes both ways. I remember what happened on Cronulla and I remember it wasn't the Islamic people who started it despite what conflicting reports have happened in the press since, I also remember the little article that was in the sydney paper that incited all of this incident and where it originated, but is the result of underlying tensions. Even though I don't agree with what the Mufti says, I am intelligent enough to realise he does not represent what the whole Muslim community thinks, maybe some small percent do agree with him but on reflection of some of the letters from non muslim westerners here they agreed with his comment on the way women dressed one even went as far as to recall the Catholic churches thoughts on the same wave length up to a few decades ago. These were in the Melbourne Herald Sun the day after the comment in September.
Simon the cases you are referring to; one teenage girl was pack raped by three boys who are now serving maximum sentances in this country, the father is of the same opinion a Doctor who has also been sentenced. With regard to the 30 year old mentaly handicapped women, are you positive you have not confused this with another recent case in Melbourne involving male STUDENTS from Weribee & Norlane private schools who distributed this act, and making a home made bomb on the internet. It was never stated that these students were Muslim in our media here, they were from a privilaged area trust me the media would have stated otherwise also I can find no mention whatsoever to this incident in our media archieves so if you could let me know please do.
I might add that some effort to understand how the people of America feel in the light of 9/11, must be made. If you must question someone question those who chose to attack in the name of Islam, many people have suffered and will continue to do so because of these people, it must be admitted that an act of terrorism is what created the now 'religious' war.

A lot of people attacking islam attack christianity too,
When they attack muslims they call themselves christians, when they attack christianity they call themselves athiests.I know what group of people i blame.
Our Lord said that you will know a tree by its fruit,a good tree doesnt produce bad fruit and a bad tree doesnt produce good fruit.
The way i look at it islams dont sly dig the catholic church so therefore i have no grievance.People will bunch together what they hear to make a picture though
and unfortunately on the fly a lot of what they hear is death to the west and death to israel so only one conclusion is easily possible.
As for being painted as the bad guy?the irish in the north have had to put up with this for the last 50 years so i dont know what to say to you.

What was the reason for 9/11 from your point of view? Wasn't it just to hurt the west in its heart? There was cheering in the middle east as the towers fell. Where was the outcry in the rest of the Muslim world then?
I don't feel threatened by Christian suicide-bombers or a mob of Christians rioting and burning flags in the street.
Well you can't deny the Korans violence.109 Suras of violence. And Mohammed was far from been a peaceful person. He got more violent as he gained more power.
You follow this man so you agree with all his teachings, that he cut off peoples hands and feet, kill infidels, split the moon all his rules up to this day. That makes you a nominal member.
I'm not saying all Muslims are bad just as not all Germans were bad in the 2nd world war. But they did follow Hitler and that made them guilty of all the crimes as a nation.
Christian Crusades are over since the 12th century. No one goes to war for God. Bush makes war for his country (sure not in the name of all Americans.) The Bible does not teach to kill. Jesus did not fight any war or tell anyone to kill others in his name.

I think what you're asking is why people don't hold Christians to the same standards that Christians hold Muslims, right? Let me assure you, I do. If you can respect the fact that I'm Pagan and that's my choice, I can respect your choice of Islam.
