I lived near Corvallis for 25 years, and spent much time there. It would help to know more precisely what you are looking for.
It's a university town, Oregon State University. It's quiet, quaint, has a nice downtown area, campus is lovely. No real shopping malls, a few strip malls and the usual big box stores have recently come in.
Located along the Willamette River. Picturesque.

Corvallis is a nice little college town, but if you don't drink heavily, mountain bike or golf, there is absolutely nothing to do. I went to school there and escaped to Portland as often as possible.
Eugene is ugly but at least there's more to do there.
