High revs on 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 V8 automatic?

I've had the timing checked, a tune up and the fuel pump was just replaced. The revs go up to 2200 rpms and will stay there for a minute or so before it kicks into gear and drops to about 1700 rpms. It will keep doing this for about 10 minutes of driving before shifting normally. I also seem to have no power when I hit the gas. It will do it even after warming up for 15 minutes?

i own a repair shop, and to me it sounds like you have a bad throttle position sensor on it,this will make the idle run away with it like this, you might want to take it to auto zone and have them scan it,its free ,and this will help you determine whats wrong with it,i think its a sensor that's causing this to happen, either the throttle position sensor or the 0-2 sensor will do this, and also an idle air control valve will do it,the test will tell you for sure ,good luck,i hope this help,s.

check engine light on? there is a tsb about the adjustment

on the throttle body, but you can only do it with the tech II.

I would take it to the nearest dealership before dumping anymore money into it.

Sounds like a faulty thermo sensor. providing all linkages etc. are free. and TPS switch is ok.

if you have the build code sheet for your truck (check your glove box) look for build code 080, if it's listed then you have limited slip. hope this helps
