Does anyone really watch tv anymore?

I mean we all pay so much for cable, satelite or whatever you may have. But do you really watch it or is it just background noise?

I very rarely watch television. The last time I had a television in my house was over six years ago. I do have a video projector and a quality home cinema and sound system for watching DVDs and DivXs but the whole idea of watching TV has never been something I've been attracted to. I'd prefer to choose the information I take in by reading books and using the internet, and playing music rather than playing an entirely passive role and slumping in front of the TV.

I decided when I moved out of my parent's place not to use TV to receive a signal because of the price of a TV licence here in the UK. So I de-tuned my TV, told the TV licencing people I wouldn't be using the service, and they're cool with it. I spend the money saved on xbox360 games, new DVDs and the DVD box sets of TV series that I really like... but there are very few. It's amazing how much more time you have on your hands - and how much nicer it is to make conversation with your partner/friends/family instead of just staring at the box during dinner etc.

Make a break for it - it's the best thing I've ever done!

Both! If its too quiet in the house I will turn on the tv other than that I have 2 or 3 shows that I will actually watch. Most tv these days is garbage or a spin off from another networks show. Not that much originality these days.

Background noise mostly. I agree with what you're saying. There's so much rubbish TV on nowadays, when there's actually something good on, we almost miss it.

Yesterday I saw "The Real Hustle", a sort-of documentary about how con-artists really trick people out of money. If you'd been channel-hopping, you wouldn't have noticed it, but it was actually really funny / scary (=p)

As for Big Brother etc... Reality TV has killed television, in my opinion. I don't see us watching TV in 20 years time...

definite I watch television. frequently purely on Mondays, Wednesdays, now and back Fridays and weekends. If there is not any longer something on, i will placed a action picture in, or watch a television coach on DVD. I hate watching stuff online, I dodge desktops as much as obtainable while i'm no longer at artwork.

Certain shows. I have notcied though, that there's hardly any "good" shows anymore and networks are just showing the peopular shows over and over again (Desperate Housewives 3 times a week?)

We're actually thinking of cutting down to just basic cable...saves a lot.

I watch it. I am not one of those people who has it on in the background - except if I am on the computer and have it on - so can flit to and fro as interesting stuff or otherwise is on screen. but I do use it a lot to play dvds through

I do not own a tv. I have a projector. It is good for what I have it for. I use it for video games and movies.

If I want to watch t.v., My parents own a pizza store down the road. I go watch it if I want to.

I still watch TV... Only the good shows though ;) ..

And The Movie Network On Demand is the cat's meow!
