If your spouse hit you....?

For men--what would you do if your wife hit you? A cold war had been going on for 2 days, and you change the channel on the tv, and she hits you with an open hand on the side of the head? It's the first time it's happened in 26 years of marriage.

For women? Do you feel the rules should or should not be different for spouses hitting each other? Should women be treated the same as men who hit?

This just happened to my best friend. And no, he didn't touch her after she hit him...but I'm surprised at him staying there after she hit him.

Update:

This was definitely NOT a love tap. It was an open handed "slap" on the side of his head.

Update 2:

Would it change your opinion, knowing she is a school teacher--for kids with special needs?

Same rules apply for both serxes. men should not hit women because they could seriously hurt them iwth out them being able to properly defend themselves and women should not hit men because they are not allowed to defend themselves. My motto tit for tat. Tell your friend to hit the road because this is just the beginning, if she got away with it once it WILL happen again.

When someone hits their spouse, it's never a one-off. Your friend's wife has just broken the seal and there'll be plenty more slappage where that came from. Everyone else who answered is spot-on, domestic violence is domestic violence, regardless of who is hitting whom, and is dreadful and wrong in every case. The fact that it was a woman hitting a man is immaterial - the heart of the issue is that the spark of violence is there. Your friend should take this with deadly seriousness

Today violence is not tolerated from anyone. The same rule applies to the male or the female. No one should have to be abused in any way, physically, mentally or emotionally. There are so many places to get help today for any kind of abuse. The first time it happens to you, it is not your fault, the second time it happens to you, it is your fault. It is kind of like walking down the road and falling in a hole. The first time it is not your fault because you did not know the hole was there. But, if you continue to walk down that road and fall in that hole, it is your fault after the first time because you know that hole is there. Advise your friend to get help or get out.

    Hello,

Yes i feel that women should be treated and have to pay for what they do just like a man should if they are beating up and hitting on their husbands or wives... Goes both ways... Abuse is never right no matter who is doing the abusing.

actually, i've got on no account been in an abusive relationship yet i understand women who've and that they hold on with those adult males for as a result long (what?!) I used to artwork at a lodge the place a targeted visitor grow to be getting her butt kicked throughout their room, a lot so the government stated as the police to study on her. whilst the police got here she acted like no longer something ever got here approximately and he or she grow to be merely having somewhat "argument" together with her boyfriend. i assume the foremost's i could on no account permit a guy hit me and that i merely won't be able to comprehend why the human beings this does ensue to does no longer depart.

My wife got so mad she started hitting me once. I threw her high up in the air and down on to the bed, then held her down for a few seconds until she didn't want to hit me anymore.

I was very careful not to hurt her, but I did send the message that "hey, if you want to play the hitting game, it won't be much of a contest"

This is absolutely no different than a man hitting a woman. Period. I'd be pissed if I were the man. There's no excuse for such childish and violent behavior. He should have called the police.

The rules should be the same for both--No one deserves to be hit for any reason. If you hit, you are an abuser, regardless, and you should be treated as such.

I'm assuming this wasn't just a love tap to vent frustration over the crap both husbands and wives have to put up with for their loved one. If my wife ever hit me, she'd hit the floor, and she would never see my @$$ again.

Abuse is what it is regardless to who does it, and there shouldn't be any difference in punishments. If you weren't in the room to see what happened, than there could be more to the story than what way said.
