Why is The "F" slur used to describe gays so widely accepted in the african american community?

have we already forgotten the many hurtful slurs unleashed against our dignities over the centuries? the lynchings? the disenfranchisements? of all people in america, we, as african americans should be tolerant.

I don't know why they do, I have even asked someone who was petitioning at my old high school to kick all the gay students out why he did it, bringing up the old laws of segregation. When brought up in that point, he didn't have much of an argument, but he kept on with his course of action. It really saddened me to see it too.

I think some of the reasons they might do it is because they might need something to focus their hate on, or since there is such a religious base in the black community and the majority of religion in America states that homosexuality is wrong, they go with that.

Another reason may be that they believe that if another part of the population is focused on negatively, they won't be. Sort of like homosexuals or social scapegoats.

Or, perhaps in or society people are just raised that way. People aren't denied nearly as many things as anyone was back just a few decades ago, so many people don't see the struggle gay people are going through as anything like what the different races and even women went through and therefore might not care about abusing them. Also, as noted before, with religion behind them, they might even think they are right.

because people are sometimes unprepared or not equipped to be in the company of these type of lifestyles or life situations.

therefore, they know no other way to express being uncomfortable around gays so they insult instead of walking away or being quiet. To disagree does not require to insult because gays are people too.

well the question is simple, the people who use that slur are so uneducated that they cannot find any other word to describe homosexuals, bisexuals, ect.., so instead they refer to this type of sexuality by using the "f" slur, and they heard this word from other uneducated role models that use the word freely becuase they learned it from street slang and media.

I completely agree with you, and I have no idea. I just recently went to Atlanta and everyone there is completely homophobic. whats that about? I think that the F word is just as bad as the N word, but they dont feel that way. I think its a religious thing.

This applies to European Americans as well. We should all stop calling them fairies! From now on, those of the alternative lifestyle shall be called "heterosexually challenged".

The color of your skin has nothing to do with your character. Homosexuality is a behavior.
