Classical guitar for pop songs?

I've just bought a rather good classical guitar for my classical guitar course in school..because I would like to know guitar playing so that i can play my favourite Japanese Pop songs in the future..I was very much interested in playing Japanese pop songs on the guitar, so will those pop songs played sound nice? Can I use classical guitar to play pop songs too?

You can play any song you want on the classical guitar-it may not sound like the recording, but so what....if you can take an existing melody and add your own spin to it, that's the first step in creating your own music...I'm not going to say whether pop songs on the classical guitar will sound 'nice' or not, but if a listener can recognize the tune, that's the first step. Also if you're new to the guitar, an introduction to classical is a good way to get started. Good Luck!

dude, its ok to play anything on whatever instrument u please. an acoustic would better fit the tone for pop songs, but a nylon string guitar sounds more gentle than steel strings on a acoustic. i just prefer playing on a acoustic cuz i like steel strings more than i do nylon. play whatever u want.
