the life expectancy of a termite?

my boss wants to know how long a termite lives. does any one know, (no guessing please.)

    Well you should consider termites as a colony and not just a single individual. The individual worker termites can live to upwards of a month, whereas the queen (large sausage-like egg layer) can live upwards of 10 years!!!.

    Entire termite colonies can thrive for decades as long as they have abundant food available. Termites feed on wood (unlike carpenter ants) so as long as there is enough food to sustain the ever growing colony, then it should last for quite some time.
