Could Scotland succeed as an Independent Nation?

With a growing number of Scots considering the SNP party I think that it is time for people to not answer the question of can Scotland can become independent but if it can succeed as an EU nation. Given that with with the addition of last Balkan/Slav nations to the EU (Rom, Bul) and the needed investment from the EU can Scotland's own economy support itself?

Scotland just in the olden days could become a separate country if UK citizens will vote for its separation.

I think it can but the financial area is a problem? When you separate from an existing economy you now must split the profits and then the competive business will have to fluctuate in pricing like Taiwan and Hong Kong? Singapore? They might be opening up a can of worms right now and that could fold them as a country before they start. Palestinians could have their own state a long time ago but they could not sustain an economy. It would be like America splitting up in pieces? How would that work out? We would starve? And don't be surprised if these things don't come to pass, but for long range plans you need unity. If they can maintain with all the competition out there okay but I would research that for sure? And all contracts business or otherwise can be broken?

If a tiny island state like Singapore can - an island without any natural resources whatsoever - I don't see any problem with Scotland.

[The separation of Singapore from Malaysia was done in a legal and peaceful manner and by mutual consent of both countries' leaders at that time. The separation was more due to different political standpoints. ]

If Scotland ever secede from GB, I pray it will be by mutual consent.

no longer really a count number of ought to yet might want to? i do not recognize if the Scottish economy might want to keep up itself. i recognize you've the gas and oil yet this received't very last continuously and the tourism isn't to be relied on. Why no longer provide it a bypass? i does no longer be stricken in my opinion both way. i imagine small self reliant countries are weaker and in probability in a international recession. that is the idea in the back of the ecu union and the united kingdom. Divided up might want to be thrilling as maximum countries do not get alongside that properly yet i like the safe practices in joined substances operating jointly. If the Scottish human beings want to break free they in user-friendly words ought to vote for it. yet when cases get hard you'll seem weak in case you come back out cap in hand searching for money handouts like eire and Greece and conceivable Spain. i'm hoping i do not come over like a neo nazi.... (i'm no longer English both...)

Yes, but you need to gather all fighting men and storm the castle at York, painted blue.

There is no reason why not.

As a Scot - Peter K - you are talking total nonsense.
