I don't think the UK will join. I cannot see economic advantages for the UK to join the EU.

The EU was formed to give economic power to struggling European nations. The UK is a world power on its own. It would provide much benefit to the EU, but none to the UK.

The United Kingdom may adopt the euro in time, but I do not believe it will be anytime soon. You have the pound sterling which is almost double the value of the euro.
