i have been in contact with a child who has head lice. i am pregnant...?

and want to know if i can use a head lice shampoo as a treatment in case i have caught them. not sure about the chemicals that might be in there as i know you are not supposed to colour your hair whilst pregnant because of the chemicals.

you can use it , your inhaling more chemicals walking down the road the chemicals in the head lice lotions or the mouse are only strong enough to kill the lice and eggs thay wont do your baby any harm other wise that wouldnt be allowed to put them on a childs hair .

and also you can still have your hair coloured when your having a baby its a perm thay say not to have its not because of the chemicals its the fact that your body is changing and the hormones are every were the hormones react will the perm lotion and all that happens is your hair dosent curl ,nothing bad happens

the only time i have ever had head lice is when i was pregnant, both times. i used chemicals the first tome but y the 2nd i was very anti chemicals, so i used lots of conditioner and a nit comb. You need to do this frequently over a 2- 4 weeks to get all the just hatched lice out.

The lice are getting used to the chemicals so try the traditional way USE A METAL comb.

I have 2 daughters who are forever catching them, try using conditioner on your hair then combing.

If you work with children, hair wax is a good repelent.

I tried using baby oil on the girls hair, it got all the eggs and lice out but it took age's to get the baby oil out.

There's really no need to use chemicals. Soak your hair in conditioner and drag a nit comb through it. Works just as well, they can't hold on in all the conditioner. Make sure you use a metal comb though, if you don't manage to get one or two out, the metal renders them infertile so they will just die and not lay more eggs. The plastic combs are useless.

If you are worried get a specialised comb wash your hair and coat with conditioner and comb. Leave the conditioner in for several hours and comb some more.

Read the bottle. If it says speak to a doctor if you are pregnant then do so.

Use real Mayo...It's also going to condition your hair. I know it sounds strange, but it's a natural alternative for your situation.
