What is the best way to clean finished hardwood floors without having to dry them?

We finished laying our flooring just before Christmas and it has been a real chore keeping it clean, especially with a shedding Golden Retriever and a YorkiPom. We bought a product called Bruce's Hardwood Cleaning Kit. It includes the mop with removable terry cleaner and the Spray Cleaner. I've noticed that Pledge and a few other furniture polish manufacturer's also carry their version of the kit.

What I do is Swiffer it daily. Then we I can't stand it any longer, about twice a week, I use the spray cleaner and mop. The cleaner dries very quickly and does not leave a residue. HOWEVER, I ran out of the cleaner last week and tried mixing Murphy's Oil Soap with water and it was beautiful, EXCEPT the moment anyone walked across the floor it left their shoe or sock or foot imprint and ended up looking much worse than it did when I started. --And the floor was dry, that's the crazy thing.

-One other option that seemed to work just as well, if not better than the spray cleaner is a mixture of 1 part cider vinegar and 2 parts water. Dried quickly and didn't seem to leave as many marks after use.

My housekeeper uses a "Swiffer" product for hardwood floors with the "Swiffer Wet Jet" that I have. It has worked well for me. We have animals in the house (2-dogs, 3-cats) and, after vacuuming with a "shop vac", the Wet Jet gets all of the soil up. There is no drying needed.

Murphy's Oil Soap.

That depends on the finish you have on your wood. If it's polyeurethane (sp?), then use any regular floor cleaner (Mr Clean, **** and Span, etc.)

If it's varnished, use Murphy's Oil Soap. The varnish will allow the moisture into the wood and leave it beautiful.
