Vecrors In Physics!!!?

A ship sets out to sail to a point 150 km due north. An unexpected storm blows the ship to a point 42 km due east of its starting point. How far must it now sail to reach its original destination?

In what direction must it now sail to reach its original destination?

    Use the Pythagorean Theorem to get the distance, and geometry for the angle.

    (150)^2 + (42)^2 = (distance)^2

    distance = 155.8km

    Sin x = opposite side / hypotenuse

    Sin x = 150 / 155.8

    x = arcsin (0.96277) = 74.3 degrees
