Penny: before you go and ruin your life, THINK this through. You will jeopardize your education, your reputation, your physical health, and even mental health by running away from home. And, at 16, it IS considered running away. Legally, you aren't old enough by Law to leave home.

Lots of kids DON'T get along at age 16 with their parents! FACT! Also, it is a fact that 3-5 more years from now, you are guaranteed to regret your decision to run away! FACT! Lots of statistics and research on this one.

Furthermore, kids who do runaway just add to their problem list alot of new problems. So, if you already feel burdened by problems, why would you want to add to your problem list?

Wouldn't you rather ask for some help from the school counselor to help you sort out how to get some help with your problems? Talk to other kids who have hated their parents, decisions the parents make for them. Ask these kids how they worked through the problems and feelings? Ask Mom and Dad for some private counseling, if that is an option.

Don't run away. Don't turn to drugs or alcohol for answers. Stay and face your feelings and problems, but get some help to deal with them. At 16, you don't have all the answers. Let others give you options so you can make healthy choices for yourself and the rest of your life. Bad mistakes can haunt you for the rest of your life at this age.
