Toddlers Bad Breath?
I watch a 12 month old little girl and her breath is so bad. Its not like normal bad breath, it smells toxic. I don't know if its because she is just getting on milk or what. I don't recall my son every having breath like that. So I don't know if it has something to do with her diet? Any ideas on how to fix the bad breath. I can smell it a foot away its so strong.
No she doesn't have any sypmtoms of being sick.
Like i said i just watch her so i don't know what her parents do as far as brushing her 2 teeth

Breath that bad in ANYONE is often a sign of bad health such as stomach issues. For a child of this age it's worrying. I'd ask her mother if she has any issues.

Sorry to LOL at this Question but that's the First, anyways she could have what Doctors call trash mouth that when the breath has a bad smell and there is little white pimples in there mouth and there tongue is discolored correct me if I'm wrong but It has happened to my niece before or maybe her parents just need to brush her gums and if she has teeth those as well or maybe someone is not cleaning and sanitizing the nipples and the bottles

My sisters children also have a bad breath problem. Their dentist pointed it out. He said it smelled like they had a yeast overgrowth problem. My sister also has a yeast overgrowth problem. (candidia albicans overgrowth) This is most commonly manifested as a vaginal yeast infection. However, it does not occur in everyone this way. Children, especially breastfeed babies, can get thrush. Thrush causes a white coating on the tongue. It can also cause horrible diaper rashes. My sister also breaks out in rashes all over her body. The best thing to do for this is to eat yoghurt with live cultures. Not the oversugary types you find in your regular grocery store. I would recommend going to your local natural foods store or Whole Foods and getting some yoghurt with several strains of live cultures. I would check with the parents first of course. 12 month old children are old enough to eat yoghurt. If she were older, I would recommend probiotics. They replace the "friendly" bacteria in your intestines. Much the same as yoghurt does.
Have you brought this up to the parents? Maybe they are just so used to it they don't notice. I would definitely tell them. It is something I would want to bring up to her pediatrician at her next visit.

I would definitely talk to her parents. Let them know you care about her and are worried that there may be an underlying problem that should be checked by a doctor. Sinus problems, diabetes, mouth or throat infection or stomach issues are all possibilites. It may just be because she is a mouth breather instead of a nose breather. Better to be safe than sorry. Good Luck!

Well I think maybe you should mention it to your doctor.
Also are you brushing her teeth well?
And consider giving her some probiotics.
Edit to add:
*lol* Sorry sometimes I loose the ability to read. Ask her parents if you can give her some probiotics or just give her some active culture yogurt (assuming you feed her). You could also buy her a toothbrush for your place.
You should also tell her parents that you are concerned, maybe they think all kids are like that.

A child that young should not have bad breath unless they are ill. It could be related to her diet, but it's most likely due to bacteria in her stomach and mouth. I would tell her mom you read somewhere that it could indicate illness and have her call her doctor.

This toddler you are babysitting could have a tooth that is bad even at her age, but it is likely due to gastric upset of some sort.
I would tactfully mention this to her parents as it should be looked into by a physician.

its toxins from the stomach.what ever the chiild eats at home. my daughter has the same and i was thinking maybe her teeth or gums but her dentist said its stomach acids and what ever the child eats. nothing to worry about.

Whatever is going on with her is probably stomach related and my suggestion would be to politely tell her mother she needs to be seen by a pediatrician and soon.

Bad breath in kids is also a sign that they are sick. Does she have any other syptoms?
