External DVD drive problem?

My ext. drive was working fine until I disconnected it without first using the "safely remove hardware" icon. Now it doesn't show up in My Computer and only says USB 2.0 Mass Storage Device. Is there a way to fix this?

    You need to reinstall the drivers for the DVD drive..
