I didn't open a gift card because I was waiting for a good reason to use it, and now it's expired.?
When I moved into my apartment, Rent.com sent me a gift card for $100. I didn't have a GOOD reason to use it, and I wanted to save it so using it would be special. It has been sitting on my desk since October. Well I finally opened it to use it today, and...it's EXPIRED by THREE DAYS!!! In CA gift cards to specific places can't expire, but I guess things like this VISA gift card can. Does anyone have any advice on how I should go about pleading my case to them on Monday?

I was watching Regis and Kelly earlier this week and they were talking about this. Sometimes for a small fee the Company will reactivate the card. Before you take that route, ask them as a 1 time courtesy if they will give you a 1 month extension on it (if you know what you want and are going to use it right away). Sometimes coming up with a good sob story helps too. Good Luck.

Call and explain to them that you just opened it. See what their response is to that. If you get a sympathetic person, you might get some results.

Tell them what you told us. They might renew it they might not I would say your chances are slim.
You should have opened it as soon as you got it and then you would have known that it had an expiration date. Really it's no ones fault but yours.
