Inmigrants dont hate US people..Only happens that they dont like the guy that represents all of you...G.W. Bush.....You are wrong.....Not EVERYONE is trying to go there or wanting to be a US citizen.
There are places nicer than your country. and calmer also.
The people that is trying to go to your country, dont hate you. They only need you for having a better life. But ..to live in your country doesnt mean that they have to love it. They are only using it. They react as the US people treat them. They are discriminated.....so they discriminate also. They dont care about the US people...they want to earn money , and nowadays your country can give them that.
Migration is just that........and has happened all along the history. Now is to USA, 30 years ago was to Australia.. 80 or 90 years ago was to southamerica. After 50 years..........who knows???
To migrate is in the human nature.

Sweetness, just by the question you posed, I realize you're intelligent enough to know that the first four posters are full of it. ;o)
Yes, it's all because of George Bush that they call us fat, obnoxious, intolerant, racist, came-to-the-war-late and stupid. And they were hateful to us before Bush was in office because of some other 'justified' excuse. Right...
Edit: In response to "> Beate <": I lived abroad, traveled for 15 years, and what I described -is- my own experience. Bush wasn't in office and the same anti-Americanism was everywhere. Most of it, just like on YAnswers, had nothing to do with politics. Just mindless hatred.
You don't like me? You don't like our president?
You're just a ray of sunshine, Beate. ;o)

Because of the currency and even though the dollar is stronger once in a while in our area (wherever that person is currently staying) it still has a better lifestyle (economically, socially, goods- products, etc)
We don't really hate American citizens, it more or less of a dislike of the president's decision-making choices, which are bad - some might think of this as the war, or just the deficet.

The ones who hate the US are not the ones who are trying to become citizens.
Remember that to "hate" the US somebody needs a certain degree of education and knowledge. Only those who are aware of Uncle Sams "crimes" are the ones who disagree with the system.
On the other hand the people that flock in large numbers to the US are the lowest educated and the rejects of the societies that they come from. Thats why the US is beign filled with so many low class people that the gringos hate so much. (not that the racist so called "white trashes" are any better)

I don't want to be a US citizen, as I live happily in Germany. But I believe that people don't hate you (as the average American), but your politics, namely Gerorge W. and Condolessa.
Nevertheless, the people who like to obtain the US citizenship are not necessarily the ones who don't like Americans politics. There are more than one opinions in the world!
It looks, like you just had a bad experience, sorry for that!
@DesignSTE: Seems, like you really have a bad day often!
I always liked Americans, except the ones like you, of course. What I explained in this answer was not necessarily my own experience, but I answered a question. For my personal opinion in your politics, as fas as I may say, you had better presidents before, like Bill Clinton for example, he got the country and the reputation of it up, not down.

Would you rather be on the same side as the dim witted bully, or against them?
Edit:
Actually, to be more truthful, most people don't dislike Americans, just your current representative, Bush.
