Wash the rice until the water runs clear. Use a 2:1 ratio (2 cups water for every 1 cup rice). The idiot proof method is a rice cooker. It will always be perfect. I dont like the microwave, but on a stovetop: add water & rice, heat until it comes to a gentle boil, cover, REDUCE heat to simmer. Check after 10-12 minutes. It should be done in 15 minutes. For firmer rice, add 1/4 cup less water, for softer rice add 1/4 cup more water.

Master this & once you get comfortable, you can make more

    complicated rice dishes (vegetable biryani!).

    Good Luck! It's easy!

Jasmine rice is an aromatic, delicately scented long-grain rice native to Thailand but now grown in California.

    RECIPE INGREDIENTS

    1 cup jasmine rice

    1 1/2 cups water

    1 tablespoon butter

    Salt to taste

    RECIPE METHOD

Place the rice, water, butter, and salt in a saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Bring to a boil, and turn down the heat to a simmer. Cook, covered, for 20 minutes or until the rice has absorbed all the liquid (add a little more water if the rice is not yet tender). Remove from the heat and let stand for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork before serving.

I love jasmine rice just plain cooked as the directions on the bag describe. For more flavorful rice throw a cube of chicken or vegetable stock into the hot water and stir just prior to closing the lid. Here is a recipe I like, if you like kidney beans its awesome:

Fry up some onions and red pepper in small pieces in olive oil until soft, add cooked jasmine rice, onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. You can serve it up that way or melt cheese on it and eat it with sour cream. It's my own weird creation but its super good. Hope this helped.

Our family eats rice every day and Jasmine is the one! It's soooo good. My daughter makes a rice cooker full and uses it instead of potatoes.
