I just filed my taxes electronically and found out that there is a $30 error what should I do?

On my federal form I reported a refund from my state taxes last year $30 less than I actually received. Will I get audited.

No, leave it be. If the IRS catches it, they'll just send you a letter saying they corrected it and you owe them an additional couple of dollars. They won't charge you any penalties or interest for what will amount to $5 and even the IRS isn't stupid enough to waste our tax dollars auditing somebody for that amount.

Did you itemize on Schedule A in 2005? If so, then the $30 difference is a real error but it may not have an effect on your tax owed.

If you didn't itemize in 2005, then there is no error.

I doubt if this will trigger an audit.

File a paper copy of Form 1040X.

Review the rules (1040 Instructions) about whether or not you need to report a refund.
