Abdominal pain in four year old?

My four year old son has been having pretty bad stomach pain. It seems to hurt around the middle of his stomach. It comes in episodes, he'll go a day or so with little or no pain. Then he goes days with almost constant pain, when he has the pain he is inconsolable. And some days with the pain he has excessive gas and burping, but it doesn't help the pain. He isn't lactose intolerant or gluten or wheat intolerant, he doesn't have a hernia, he isn't constipated, it isn't his kidneys, we took him to the E.R. twice and both times they said it wasn't gas. We have taken him to his pediatrician, but all he says is sometimes kids just have chronic pain, he may be stressed. Trust me he has nothing to be stressed about. I am at my wit's end about this.

Update:

Also, he has no fever, no diareah. This started Jan. 10. and it was sudden and severe. A few times he says he feels like he has to gag.

Update 2:

the pain is also worse at nigth and often wakes him up around four in the morning, it's not appendicits either, already checked for it.

Pediatricians in my experience let a lot of things go...

you need to take your son to a gastroenterologist asap.

I kept telling my sons pediatrician that he wasn't walking

right and he said oh it will be okay... BUT today I have a

17 year old that is having a great amount of problems -

come to find out his hips are rotated outward and he has

back, knee and leg pain and he cannot stand with his

feet directly in front of him. They go out to the side... I wish

I had followed my instinct and done something back then.

    GOOD LUCK

This could be one or the other. is he also getting any pains in his lower back? lf he is lt could be his Kidneys or appendix. either of those two l mentioned. my neice was like that for the longest time and lt turned out lt was her appendix. to be on the safe side take your son in to have him checked by your Doctor cause you don`t want to mess with this cause his pain in only gonna get out of hand and the pains are gonna get stronger where he can`t at all handle.

ok this is going to sound strange---but believe it or not -- migraines in children can manifest as adominal pain --- it is actually bowel spasms -- and I have experienced it once as an adult and it hurts like heck!!!!!!!!!! You need to find a doctor that knows something about migraines!!!! there is anti spasmodic meds that will help control the pain----g'luck and my sympathies to your son---any type of migraines are awful!
