    Hi,

I believe in the Philippines, you have two main choices for providers, SMART (1800MHz) and GLOBE (900MHz). I cant remember if I have the frequencies correct.

Anyways, what that means is that you should get a phone with at least those two bands, to give flexibility for which provider they use. Phones in the philippines are fairly inexpensive, but you can also buy some gently used/new older phones from ebay here in the USA which are often a lot nicer for almost the same price. Case in point: a "new" Nokia 8290/8390 in the philippines may cost around $70, while a nice little Nokia 6200 is only about $35 or so here.

Always when dialing a number outside the USA dial 011 first then the country code in this case for the Philippines it is 63 and the city code or if a cell phone in the Philippines usually it is 926 then the rest of the number When you are in the Philippines the number ussually starts with 09. just replace the 0 with 01163. That should do it
