What form do teachers use to file taxes?
I'm in California. The reason that I ask is because I realize that we don't pay into Social Security and when I was doing my taxes it kept coming up as I owe $600+ as soon as I put in my teaching W2. Of course it was because I hadn't paid taxes for Social Security. Can someone help me out. Thanks!

Your problem had nothing to do with Social Security taxes. Your problem is that you did not have enough federal tax withheld during the year. Most common cause is that your W-4 has too many exemptions, probably by about 2. I'd check the W-4 with the paymaster or submit a W-4 with 2 fewer exemptions.

No, it wasn't because you pay into State Teachers' Retirement instead of Social Security...it's because your income taxes were underwithheld.
How much income tax was withheld depends upon how you filled out your W4. If you still have that job - you may want to fill out a new one to make sure that more is taken out this year so you're not in a balance due position next year.
