For women who get migraines...?
I get a lot of migraines, and one of the things that triggers them is PMS. Has anyone with migraines tried a brand of birth control that makes your period less frequent? Did it also help with those monthly headaches?

I have had migraines for 30 years so I think I can give you some advice. The pill - makes it worse, the IUD no difference, but a few years ago I was on Nuva Ring. It did bring my headaches down. You should give it a try. I don't use it anymore because of my age and the fact that I smoke, otherwise, I would have kept on it.
Don't worry about aneurysm unless your doctor has noted that as a possible concern. That is an extreme.

I am 61 and have suffered from migraines all my life. The very worst ones I used to get were when I was having a period. The period and the migraine came exactly together. These migraines did not respond to any medication. The contraceptive pill made them worse, and later on in life, during menopause, I was not able to take HRT.

I used to get bad migraines about 6yrs. ago, then I suffered a brain aneurysm. My neurosurgeon had it clipped to stop the bleeding.I haven't had any more migraines after that.I also got off the birth control pill and had my tubes tied.I wasn't planning on having more children and I really didn't have to take the pill any longer.See your GYN doctor you could get better information from him.Good luck.
