Why do left-wing Liberals think it's ok to kill fetuses and not serial killers?

Does it make sense to anyone to be pro-choice and against the death penalty? Why? NOT looking for political slander but an honest answer because I dont understand it.

Update:

I still have yet to see ONE real answer. Come on guys... inquiring minds want to know.

The two are related based one single belief = that only God has the right to take a life. Most pro-choice ppl believe that a fertilized embryo is not a life; but moreover, only God can answer the question as to when an independent life begins.

If you start out with the premise that opposing the death penalty is just a liberal thing you won't get any decent answers. I think you do want some answers- please read on.

Actually, many conservatives do not support the death penalty, some for moral or religious reasons and some for pragmatic reasons. This is an issue that can and should be decided on the basis of verifiable and sourced facts. (None of them have anything to do with whether you are a liberal or a conservative, or with the pro-choice issue.)

Here are a few of them-

    Re: cost

The death penalty costs far more than life in prison. The huge extra costs start to mount up even before the trial.

    Re: Alternatives

48 states have life without parole on the books. It means what it says, is swift and sure and is rarely appealed. Being locked in a tiny cell for 23 hours a day, forever, is certainly no picnic.

Re: Possibility of executing an innocent person

Over 120 people on death rows have been released with evidence of their innocence. If we speed up the process we are bound to execute an innocent person.

    Re: DNA

DNA is available in no more than 10% of murder cases. It is not a miracle cure for sentencing innocent people to death. It’s human nature to make mistakes.

    Re: Deterrence

The death penalty isn’t a deterrent. Murder rates are actually higher in states with the death penalty than in states without it. Moreover, people who kill or commit other serious crimes do not think they will be caught (if they think at all.)

Re: Who gets the death penalty

The death penalty isn’t reserved for the “worst of the worst,” but rather for defendants with the worst lawyers. When is the last time a wealthy person was sentenced to death, let alone executed??

    Re: Victims families

The death penalty is very hard on victims’ families. They must relive their ordeal in the courts and the media. Life without parole is sure, swift and rarely appealed. Some victims families who support the death penalty in principal prefer life without parole because of how the death penalty affects families like theirs.

Opposing the death penalty doesn’t mean you condone brutal crimes or excuse people who commit them. We should make up our minds using common sense based on solid facts.

Source(s): Death Penalty Information Center, www.deathpenaltyinfo.org, for stats on executions and states where they occurred, reports and links to testimony (at state legislatures) of victims' family members. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/05cius/offenses/standard_li... the FBI Uniform Crime Report for 2005. (Right now, only preliminary stats are available for 2006) Stats found here can be compared to stats on the number of executions in different states.

well probably not a answer to your question , but here goes :

Why do you have the right to abortion anyhow ?

If it is a constitutional right show me where it is written so it can be ammended .

They say it is the womans body , it is her choice . Didn't she make that choice when she had sex ? Nope in their view she didnt . So she has the choice to have sex or not and then to abortion or not . If she chooses to have the child then she has the right to child support too . So she gets all the choices ? yes she does . They said the man could have wore a condom, but the woman could have took birth control , or not had the sex . That was her choice . So since she had the choice to have sex or not , then had the choice to abort or not , without any choice being given to the man , how then can she demand child support ? shouldnt the man have the choice rather to pay the child support ? since she was the one who decided to have the child ?

I have never seen it written in the constitution that give rights to abortion but it does say that any power not given is reserved to the states

ALSO......... even though it isnt wrtten in the constitution giving any abortion right it is written in the constition that grants EVERYONE EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW ! !

So if she has the right to have sex ! if she has the right to abort or not to ! then should she have the right to child support ?

Where is the equal protection under the law as granted via the constitution

I don't know why, but they'll tell you that fetuses are just cell clusters and not really humans. Unborn children are just as much alive as the rest of us-- they've got souls and minds. Liberals have neither of those, therefore they have no problem with destroying innocence.

It really doesn't make a lot of sense.

    1) How sure are you that the serial killer is guilty? Lots of death row cases have been overturned due to new evidence exonerating the inmate. Is it justice to execute an innocent man?

    2) Abortion is a legal medical procedure. Ending the pregnancy is sometimes more compassionate than letting it proceed.

Why do you think it's immoral to have an abortion but not to take the life of a person just because his or her peers say he is guilty?

obviously it comes from "thou shalt not kill."

in the first trimester a fetus cannot sustain life outside of the womb and is therfore not yet a baby, it is a fetus. you cannot kill something that is not yet alive.

however, captial punishment has sometimes killed innocent people. this is unacceptable. if one innocent person dies, then the system is flawed. in addition, it has not been proven a deterrent. it is state-sponsored murder.

thou shalt not kill. turn the other cheek. forgiveness is divine.

I have no idea what you're talking about.

I'm pro-choice and in favor of the death penalty.

Let me turn your question around: Why is it not okay to have an abortion, yet totally okay to kill human beings?

Or... why are you not outraged at the slaughter of all those Iraqi children who have been killed in this senseless war?

We dont want to kill fetuses. But we do want to give women the right to choose whats right for her. Theres a difference. It's not like we are going out and radomly killing fetuses like in Iraq. Oh wait, maybe we are!

I'm fine with killing serial killers and I am anti-abortion. Do you believe in everything your party stands for?
