will replacing junk food with fruits/vegies help?

i`m on somewhat of a "diet" so i can lose weight for my dad`s promotion ceremony. I usually eat a lot of snacks after school and on the weekends because i don`t eat lunch at school [it`s gross] and on the weekends we don`t have set out "meals", like we don`t get something for lunch or dinner....like go out and get something from a Restraunt.

My question is if i eat fruits/vegies instead of my usual junk food snacks, will that help me slim down [with exercise, of course] or will i not change or gain weight since i`m still eating around the same amount just healthier food?

Update:

And I don`t eat meat.

it should help you loose weight and it should give you more energy to do things in your day because you will get more vitamins. Veggies and fruits have less calories than junk food per serving so even if you ate lots of veggies and fruits, you would have to eat a WHOLE LOT to replace the calories that you ate in the junk food. So eat all of the veggies and fruits that you want. I would still eat some proteins and grains. If you don't have time to eat meat, try eating nuts or peanut butter or eggs for protein. You still need proteins and grains especially if you are excersising.

Fruits can indulge a sweet tooth in a healthy way! Most fruits are made of mostly water, so they help clean out your system and keep you hydrated. They also help you feel fuller with less calories. Dried fruit however is almost pure sugar. Lightly salted nuts (preferrably not peanuts) are good if you crave something salty, plus they are high in healthy fats and protein. Drink more water. Soda is terrible for you. Try to incorporate more whole/raw foods into your diet and avoid packaged and processed foods when possible. Take a multivitamin to ensure you're getting all the essential nutrients in.

You will definately lose weight if you do this. You wont feel the need to eat as much either as fruit is more filling than junk food, which only satisfies you for a very short time.

yes. also increase your water intake and stop drinking soda. for a real challenge don't eat fried meats or fast food either. Watch you body change not only physically but internally. Trust me, you do a week of that and then eat a fast food burger and your body will treat it like its a poison or something. you'll be on the toilet in 30 minutes.

fruit and veggies will absolutely help!! it would be extremely hard to match or top the current calorie intake you get with snacks. fruit is so good and all of the sugar in it is natural so it is much better for you. good luck!! maybe this will start a healthy eating trend!!

if your just eating fruits and veggies instead of french fries and all that junk food it will help you because fruits contain less calories than junk food. make sure you always exercise if you want to lose that weight!

You will stop consuming as many calories and fat, so yes, you will slim down. Not to mention, eating a few smaller meals a day instead of skipping meals is best to control your weight.
