Seen the new G8 yet? What do you think?
I'm wondering if there will be a market for this vehicle, a RWD 4 door. I'm in the north east and winter driving is an obvious concern. What do you think?

the G8 is a an awesome car...it of course comes from Australia, where it starts off as the Holden Commodore...add Pontiac nose and LHD, and we get the G8
you guys will get a 3.6Ltr V6 with standard 5-speed auto, while the GT model will come with a 6.0Ltr Gen4 V8 with cylinder shutdown and standard 6-speed auto. a 6-speed manual will be optional on both models
the car looks awesome, and will be far-and-away the best quality car avaliable on the US GM market...yes the price will be higher than a ok-but not great G6, but you will gte standard 6-airbags, 18inch alloys, bodykit,7-speaker stereo with satellite radio ESP, the works
plus if you want more, theres the sports upgrade, with leather seats, 19inch alloys and stereo upgrade 11-speakers, 6-stacker plus a color screen
this is a awesome car, won Australian COTY and will (hopefully) storn home in the US
next stop>> Chev El Camero Ute...yep the VE Commodore's new Ute brother, due in Sept. 07 her in Australia.

I saw a concept picture of it today. It looks pretty nice and I'm sure that it'll perform well too.
I believe that GM has the eventual goal of its Pontiac line competing with the likes of BMW and Audi. It certainly is not hard either to see that there has been some major redesigning going on within the Pontiac line. They have definitely been trying to make their vehicles more high performance and upmarket.
My concern is that in doing that they're going to end up driving up the price of Pontiacs to the BMW range. Look at the GTO for example. I'm sure a loaded G8 won't be cheap either. About the only affordable Pontiac these days (for many people) is a base G6 or a Solstice.
In short, I don't think that Pontiac is interested in making affordable sporty family cars anymore. I think that they're concerned with making higher end high performance vehicles with 350-400 horsepower engines in them that cater to baby boomers' nostalgic and expensive tastes. Too bad I'm not one of them. For now, I'll just keep driving my 'sporty' '99 Grand Am.

It will be great, I'm in Michigan my self, i am not concern about the ice because I'm used to the old school rear wheel drive cars, that did not have stabilatrac, or any kind of traction control, which is something the g8 will have, and of course it will have a warranty longer then any Toyota AND HAVE A BETTER RESALE VALUE THEN THE CHARGER LOL

This car looks great and has promising features, but will it out last the GTO? Remember, the GTO came from Australia and failed in the US. I am going to see this car in person at the Chicago Auto Show......

The GTO is a Holen Monaro, not a Commodore, and is also sold in the UK and Europe as a Vauxhall.
An excellent "muscle car".
