  • Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins Question?

Hi, I have been reading this book and absolutely love it, unfortunately I have misplaced it and need to have finished it by Tues evening for school. Could anyone please give me a moderate amount of details following Rue's death (about page 240 I believe). If you point out specific events with characters too that would be great.I hate to have such a good book spoiled, but if I cannot find it, I have no choice. Thanks

  • Accidentally used mineral oil on leather?

After a friend recommended using mineral oil on some leather products, including a nice coat, I soon read that mineral oil is petroleum based and should not be used on leather, as it will actually de-tan and even weaken the leather. Should I attempt to dry it out and apply neatsfoot or other appropriate oil? or should I just let it run its course and just apply neatsfoot or other natural oils to it later? Other suggestions? Thanks

  • 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix NHTSA Recalls?

According to consumerguideauto.com, there were three recalls on the 2004 Grand Prix:

    http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2004-to...

    (scroll near bottom)

I bought the car used, and it now has 80,000 miles on it, can I still take it in?

Can I just call any Pontiac Dealer and ask them to look at the car, and see if it does need work?

  • Where to buy a Praying Mantis?

I caught a praying mantis right before the first frost last year, and kept her for some time before she laid egs and died (eggs didn't hatch or were sterile).

I've seen a number of UK based sights selling praying mantis of from plain to some of the exotic ones, though I live in Ohio.

What are some more respectable websites to order praying mantis' from.

Please don't just google "praying mantis for sale" and then give me the first link. And for what its worth, there is no laws prohibiting, owning a praying mantis in the State of Ohio.

    Thanks

  • Best way to clean up a scrape on a car?

I scraped the area just below the foglight on my 2004 Grand Prix on a large rock on the side of the road. The paint is scraped, but only a small part of the body is actually chipped (and slightly dented in).

The damage is pretty much just a blemish. I have a small can of GM paint, can I just wash the area with dish soap, dry it, and apply the paint? What about the small dented in area where some paint chipped, do I have to sand and apply primer so the paint doesn't flake off.

  • What exactly do they do in a car tune up?

I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix that has 78,000 miles on it. I'd like to have it serviced just because. What exactly do mechanics do during a tune up. Will my service be better if I take it to a Pontiac/GM Goodwrench place, or will a local mechanic do just fine?

  • Whining Noise from under the hood of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix?

I recently bought a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, and love the car, except for when I accelerate under 30 mph or so. My car makes an annoying whining sound, I already had it serviced, and they put a new alternator in, though that didn't help, and the dealership isn't being real carring, despite my warranty.

If anyone has a Pontiac Grand Prix, on mage 5-12 of the big manual, part "G" in the picture, the power steering fluid resevoir (the one that has a belt attached to the side) appears to be where the noise was coming from.

The whine from the car sometimes worsens while turning and accelerating, and it wasn't until moments ago looking at the manual that I realized the part which appears to be causing the whine was the "Power Steering Fluid Resevoir". Is it possible that this part is causing the whining even while going in a straight line? Note the whine only happens while my foot is on the gas.

I will provide more detail if asked, 10pts goes to the best answer.

  • How long will a bottle of NOS last for?

I'm just curious. I know someone will want to know what kind of car its for because of factors and such. Not that I'd mod it until I traded it in for a GP GTP or a Trans Am, but I currently have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GT2 now. I saw a kit at autozone for my car selling for around $600 and it got me thinking

  • Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment?

I saw this at the store, and throught I'd give it a try. Heres a link to the website:

    http://www.startron.com/

I know it may just be fluff, but thats why I haven't opened it yet.

It says it helps clean the fuel delivery system and combustion chambers while removing carbon build up, among other things.

    Any comments welcome

  • Tuning your engine to require higher octane gasoline?

I am most likely getting a 2004 Grand Prix with a 3800 series III engine (200 HP and 230 ft-lbs torque). The car performs great already, but I had heard that having your car tuned to require a higher octane level, you can increase your horsepower.

I'm getting a good deal on the car, otherwise I might consider the GTP version. But I'm curious, how many more horses can I squeeze out of the engine by tuning it for higher octane gas. I'm aware that some parts may need to be exchanged.

How much would it cost? How would it affect my fuel economy?

  • A Little Rust Under the Hood of a 1999 Firebird Trans Am?

I test drove a '99 Trans Am earlier today. Before I drove it, my friend and I looked under the hood, and some of the nuts and bolts were rusty, otherwise the motor was clean, and the major parts. I noticed the hinge of the drivers door had some rust on it as well, but it wasn't anything big. The rotors had a bit of rust on them, they all do, and my friend said they looked fine.

I've heard about about some shady independent dealers getting cars from Katrina and polishing them up, only to have problems later.

Honestly the car ran well, it does need new brakes, and I don't think it would cost too much to get new nuts and bolts in some places, however my friend said he wouldn't want to get involved with it. I didn't expect the car to be in pristine condition, especially since its a '99.

Any opinions are appreciated. It's been really hard to find a Trans Am where I am (Ohio), let alone one that's priced within my range. The dealer is asking $9,450 and I was thinking asking $7,800

  • Is this 2004 Grand Prix a GT or a GT2?

I'm testing driving a 2004 Grand Prix for the day. When the dealer showed me the Kelly Blue book value, it was listed a a Pontiac GT2, which I at first had assumed was the Supercharged version, however I was told it wasn't that engine.

The car has nice features, power sunroof, power seats, radio control from the steering wheel, monsoon speakers, (not leather though)...

The car no where says GT2 either, not on the inside or on the trunk door, just GT.

Did the dealer make a mistake? I also noticed on the autotrader site the car was listed as a just a GT, and was actually listed as about the same price they said they paid for it. And yes, I know car dealers have away of wording *stuff*

  • Should we modify laws that allow anyone born in a country to automatically become a citizen?

Hear me out for a second. I was reading an article on Yahoo News yesterday about a Nigerian born man who tried to claim aslyum in Ireland, stating the Christian-Muslim war chased him out. However the Irish Government found no evidence that the war had affected him presonally so his aslyum was denied, however he and his wife had a child born in Ireland in the meantime, so the Government gave him citizenship, and now he's a mayor there.

The same thing here in America with illegal Mexicans crossing the border, having kids here, and then claiming citizenship.

If a bill was propposed in (The American) Congress that would state that only children born to parrents who are citizens of that country, could automatically become citizens of their birth country.

Example 1: Two American citizens have a child in America = Baby automatically gets citizenship

Example 2: Two non-American (foreign) citizens have a child in America = Baby must claim citizenship of parrent's country

  • Why can GM build cars with massive sunroofs, but putting t-tops on the new Camaro won't work?

I've seen Grand Prixs, G6s, and GMC Acadia with the entire top of the car nearly being a giant sunroof. These sun roofs are made of glass of course.

To me, it stands to reason that GM is cutting the 2009 Camaro short by not putting T-tops on, which is essentially removable sunroofs.

I do know that the new Camaro will not be built on the old F-body platform, but the new Zeta platform, which people argue cannot support the t-tops. Does anyone else feel that GM is letting it's Camaro enthusiast down? Should the 2009 Camaro be built on a new platform or a modified Zeta platform that would permit T-tops?

Please don't tell me that it would cost too much, take too long to rebuild, or that kind of crap, despite hardships, GM is still raking in billions of dollars, and is the second largest car producer in the world.

While T-tops may not have made a debut on the 1967 Camaro, they are still a tradition that I don't think is worth losing because GM is dead set on this Zeta platform

  • What is it called when you have the rear tires spinning while the car is stopped, right before a race starts?

What is it called, right as a street race starts, and the driver's rear wheels are already spinning, while the car is stopped right before a race, so that he'll get a fast launch. How do you do this in manual/automatic cars?

  • Factors that go into rating a car's fuel economy?

When the EPA estimates a car's fuel economy, how do they drive the car? Do they accelerate slow to get stay in the lower RPMs, and ultimately save more gas, or do they accelerate normally, or even accelerate hard.

When testing highway miles, I've heard a cars fuel economy decreases 10% for every 5 miles over 60. Does the EPA test highway MPG at 60mph? 65mph is standard for most states, Michigan, I know, the highway is 70mph. Naturally the mpg is decieving for states where the highway is 70mph, unless the EPA test for the limits of all states?

When on the highway, does the EPA test fuel economy while the car is on cruise control for maxium fuel economy? or do they drive without it?
