Best way to clean up a scrape on a car?
I scraped the area just below the foglight on my 2004 Grand Prix on a large rock on the side of the road. The paint is scraped, but only a small part of the body is actually chipped (and slightly dented in).
The damage is pretty much just a blemish. I have a small can of GM paint, can I just wash the area with dish soap, dry it, and apply the paint? What about the small dented in area where some paint chipped, do I have to sand and apply primer so the paint doesn't flake off.

If the dent is as small as you say, touching up the paint should make it disappear almost completely. And that kind of paint repair is something you can easily fix yourself. Check out this article which takes you through the basic steps.to get the job done:

Good luck.

Where the paint is chipped; if down to the bare metal it would be best to use a sand-able primer, but if primer is still intact just clean and then sand with super fine wet/dry paper like 500 grit or finer. Only sand where you will spray and mask off the surrounding are to catch any over spray. Use a couple of light coats of paint as opposed to one heavy coat of paint
