Whining Noise from under the hood of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix?

I recently bought a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, and love the car, except for when I accelerate under 30 mph or so. My car makes an annoying whining sound, I already had it serviced, and they put a new alternator in, though that didn't help, and the dealership isn't being real carring, despite my warranty.

If anyone has a Pontiac Grand Prix, on mage 5-12 of the big manual, part "G" in the picture, the power steering fluid resevoir (the one that has a belt attached to the side) appears to be where the noise was coming from.

The whine from the car sometimes worsens while turning and accelerating, and it wasn't until moments ago looking at the manual that I realized the part which appears to be causing the whine was the "Power Steering Fluid Resevoir". Is it possible that this part is causing the whining even while going in a straight line? Note the whine only happens while my foot is on the gas.

I will provide more detail if asked, 10pts goes to the best answer.

Update:

EDIT: I'm asking, is it more so the lack of enough steering fluid, more than the piece itself?

it s not actually the resevoir it is the pump it is sitting on top of,it could be due to a lack of fluid but then you would have a line leaking that would need replaced.check the fluid first, and yes it will happen when going straight the pump still turns because it runs off the drive belt,if it is full try changing the fluid 1st,but it sounds like a bad pump

it is probably the power steering pump, you can get a stethescope for listening to engines at your local auto parts store, you use it like your listening to a patient but in this case its your engine, this tool is a very good way to pinpoint where noises are coming from, the steering pump will make alot of noise even when standing still in park, and when you are driving it and turning corners it will scream,

If you have a warranty from your dealer, you paid for it, or whether it came with it, it doesn't matter, you MAKE them honor it. If you haven't completely paid for it yet, and you are paying back the dealer, and not a bank, you can stop making payments on the car until they fix this problem. Take it back there, and MAKE THEM FIX IT! This shouldn't be your problem or ours if you have a warranty. If they aren't honoring it, threaten them with the BBB or court. They will shape up.

My first thought is that it could be a belt and it's slipping untill it grips (at 30 mpr).

Check all belts for any sign of wear, looseness, cracks,etc...

Check em out... hope this helps............
