There's the obvious but often expensive solution of humidifiers in various rooms. I sometimes put water on simmer on the stove and add a few herbs. This puts moisture and a nice fragrance in the air. I also have table top water fountains in my living room and bedroom. They are small, run on electricity, make a soothing sound and are economical. I know that people who use wood stoves often place a pot of water on top of the stove to get some moisture into the air. Hope these ideas help. Dry air from furnaces in the winter are very bad for your sinuses, as I'm sure you already have discovered.

You can buy a humidifier and have to clean it every 3 days to prevent mold or you can just put moisture in the air by putting water in pans on the heat vents or on the stove and letting it lightly boil during really dry times. Also hanging clothes to dry in the house helps with moisture. You can put water over vents in your sleeping area where it counts the most and go from there. good luck.

If you have a forced air furnace, install an APRIL AIRE whole house humidifier on the supply plenum. This should run you about 240.00 installed from a heating contractor. Whosale, and you install it...very easy to do if you have a mechanical ability...125.00 for the unit.

Get a very sweaty friend to come round then turn up the heating. On the other hand you could leave a bowl of water in each room, near the radiator. This one actually works and is free!

What kind of heat do you have? We have wood heat, and put a pot of water on the stove all the time. If you have gas heat, and a gas stove, boil some water on the stove. Or bake more.
