Is it normal for my English Bulldog (8 years old) to be getting gray hair? Her gray muzzle used to be black!?
She is active, at a good weight and has otherwise very good all-over health. But is the graying indicative of a health problem?
The graying is the only sign of age she's ever shown. Her vet thinks she will live to 12, at least. She's always been playful and healthy, so it kind of feels blunt for everyone to keep saying "old, old, old." :) LOL. I guess I think she is such a perfect little lady, she prefers to be thought of as "older." ha ha ha. Thanks for all the good answers.

Yes, that's quite normal. It has more to do with genetics than anything else, early graying is a trait that can be carried from one of the parents.
My Great Dane puppy (2 years old) has a black mask, and I notice it is starting to gray. My other boy is 4 and shows no signs of gray at all.

She is 8 years old, shich means she is about 56 in human years. Most 56 year olds have gray hair! It is not a sign of a health problem, but it is a good indication that she is geriatric...
You shouldn't worry, unless there seems to be other problems with your dog. (incontinence, trouble breating, walking, or eating, etc).

No, dogs will sometimes gray just like people. I had a dog live to be 15, and her color was almost unrecognizable by then to when she was a puppy. It is natural, don't worry about it. But with your dog getting older, check with the vet about what she may need not due to graying, but just her getting old. Often they will need more checkups, medicine, and have health problems just like a person.

It doesn't indicate a health problem, just that she's starting to get older. Some dogs (like some people) will get grey earlier than others.

This is normal. She's getting old and most bulldogs don't live past the 10 year mark. Make sure you give her lots of love and she'll be fine.

Wow lots of bulldog questions today.
I've heard of that in several breeds. It's normal- they get old just like we do.
