Is it starve a fever, feed a cold or starve a cold, feed a fever?

Any other helpful tips on getting rid of a cold would be helpful too, the decongestion medicine that I have been taking just doesn't work for me and I have tried a few decongestion medicines. And is there any way besides washing your hands to help prevent others from getting sick?

I tried that Zicam and it did shorten the length of my cold.

You should never starve a cold, feed a fever, or vice versa. That is just an old wives tale.

Most of the decongestants on the market no longer contain original decongestants due to the rise of people abusing them and making them into methanphetamines. But you can still buy them, you just have to ask the pharmacist to get it for your under the counter.

If you are already sick, the quickest way to end it is to drink plenty of fluids. Also, when you are sick and to help prevent being sick, besides frequent hand washing as you mentioned, it is pertinant to take Zinc. Zinc is proven to make it harder for the virus to survive in your body.

Hope you are feeling better soon, take care!

It's neither. You feed all illnesses. Why would you starve your body of nutrients it needs to heal? Think about it.

You need to eat a well balanced diet and drink plenty of water for all ailments and illnesses. For temporary relief, take OTC meds and let the rest take it's toll.

Washing your hands frequently is the key ingredient to avoiding colds. If you cannot wash, avoiding touching your face until you can. Avoid close contact to people with coughs, sneezing, sniffles, etc. A 3 to 5 foot rule is helpful. That means stay 3 to 5 feet from people to avoid contracting their germs.
