What's all the hype about Windows Vista?

I mean tell me some reasons. I see no geek use. It's to simple, any one can use it. I can see if you play alot of PC games, It has better graphics. This to me seems like something than an IT guy would give to someone who has BAD understanding of how to use a computer.

But no hype for geeks! It looks to me like XP with eyecandy (lots of it).

Update:

If anyone has Vista please tell me if it is all new or NT-based (most likely).

I can see what you are saying and people are going out and buying it when there are a lot of bugs that need to be worked out of it still plus I would rather get XP 64 edition but in the mean time I may upgrade to vista not sure prob not tho

KEO is absolutely right about Vista not doing anything his present PC is doing. So why would anyone invest in the $239 or more upgrading?

The answer is simple. We like NEW THINGS.

Most of us have a closet full of sweaters but I'll bet 90% of us will buy a NEW sweater before the year is out.

We just bought a new car. It does NOTHING that the old car (3 years old) did NOT do. It cost about the equivalent of 100 new top-of-the-line computers.

Three months ago we moved to a new home. It isn't any better than the old house, except maybe the waterfront view we have now. We just thought it was time to move, as 30% of Americans do every few years.

My wife buys new clothes all the time. They do nothing that the other clothes did, don't look much different either.

So there are some reasons, KEO.

My XP works great. I never have a crash. It is fast and efficient.

I have all the programs I want , have a great Video card, lots of Ram and a pretty interface.

But I can hardly wait to get a new VISTA !

I'll put on my new sweater and new shoes and new slacks and sit at my new computer desk and really enjoy it.

KEO, I'TS CALLED THE JOY OF LIVING !

I had to buy a PC fast to retrieve data from another whacked XP PC and all I could find late at night was a Vista loaded box. That was three days ago. I am trying to back away from Vista so fast my head spins. I can't afford the time or energy to work as an unpaid Microsoft beta tester. Stay with XP!

Oh yeah! convey it on infant! I make what passes for a pitiful excuse of a residing via fixing desktops that human beings tousled via making use of Microsux products. This Vista bullpoopoo is meant to be the main bloated, non-useful smug one yet. I assume having a extensive inventory of salvaged desktops from this mess. So YEAH convey it on! WooWooWoo!!! and on a greater sedate notice, Hubba-Hubba..

  • It is XP with eye candy. A lot of the technology they intended to include in it was stripped out because it was not ready for release.

It is not better for gaming, graphics have nothign to do with the operating system, it has to do with the hardward that you have (speed, memory, graphics card).

The real advantage is that it is supposed to be easier to use for everyone, but more importantly, they claim that it is more reliable (less crashing) and more secure (less worry about viruses and data being stolen).

if vista cost 23.99 instead of 239.00 I would also add it to the shopping list along with a new jumper but since it is just win95 with a lot of patches to cover the holes I think I will just buy two jumpers. win95 was easy to use if you learned how to use it..win vista like xp is just more complicated and harder to use and does not really make you more secure or make your life easier it makes it harder because you are out the money you needed for slacks to go with your jumper...damn windows...damn them to hell

Its just that . . . hype. I prefer WinXP or Linux. Takes a lot of hardware and I see no real improvments for the greater requirements. If something ain't broke, don't fix it. I am sticking with XP for now.

It's for the new dual core procressors. If you are using it on any other machine, it doesn't make any difference.

Just something else being sold to a gullible public that doesn't need or want it.

It's a lot more secure than XP.

Unfortunately no apple products are vista compatible. Sorry ipod!
