Did any of our import lovers see all of the recalls by Honda and Toyota.?

Update:

Sorry my freind, Firestone designed the tires not Ford and that is why Firestone is out of business. I posted this as a wake up call for all americans, remember in world war one and two who made our tanks and other transports to keep us safe it was the american worker.

recalls are common with all cars it just depends if the media want to advertise it or not if its less the 1 million then its not news and if its in the millions like the fords you will see it in the news or if that recalls have caused deaths. and firestone is not out of buisness because they still provide tires for indy racing, nascar and tires on all public buses across the US and also have you ever heard of bridgestone its the same company as firestone.

believe it or not, there are as many if not more recalls of imports and european cars. the neat thing is, the imports, honda, toyota, are experts at hiding it. when an american car manufacturer has one, the whole country knows it, and the media make it out to be severe and bad.

honda from 2001, all breeds of automatic transmissions are known to be faulty. there is a recall, but you'll only know about it if you bring it into the dealer. they either give you a new transmission, or route a line to the top of the bands to give adequate lubrication.

nissan's gutsy 2.4L 4 banger, which was introduced in the 2002 altima, has a known issue with engine block itself. the car runs fine, the check engine light switches on saying the catalytic converter is faulty. It could be, the real problem was an exhaust port not routing outward properly, but back into the intake, the cure: a new motor. Nissan did not argue about replacing it, although if you're past your warranty, you will need to fight, as they will throw blame back.

toyota has been having manufacturing problems for several years, they have yet to make the news until recently for recalls. but in a statement from toyota, they are scaling back manufacturing to figure out where the problems are and fixing them.

mitsubishi, simply makes crap cars from the start, from 2000 up to current their cars and trucks are poorly constructed and have no proven reliability. they also are on the verge of bankruptsy, in which at the moment they are hanging on by a thread, by themselves, as DaimlerChrysler is not bailing them out. mitsubishis is on their own and when they fail, they will pull out of the US market, but continue to sell heavy duty truck and equipment (forlifts, backhoes, etc...).

Honda recently has a global recall on the civic hybrid stating that under some circumstances the engine wont' start if in battery mode.

the new toyota tundra we've been seeing.. I'm not scared of it, there is NOTHING amazing about that truck, AT ALL. most of it looks like a cheap hack copy from ford and chevy.

I'm surprised they're allowed to build these in Texas.

Gm quality has improved so drasticlly that they now have the 5 year 100k warranty... while toyota has had so many quality issues that they have had to delay new products.... last year Toyota recalled more vehicles than they sold in that alendar year... Toyata law suit for their cover up on Engine sludge... Approx 45% of the price of the Toyota leaves the NA economy... (no wonder the USA has and anual trade deficit of some 300 Trillion Dollars)... BUY NA ...quality is better, and their my just be a job available for your graduating son / daughter...(other than a Fry maker)

  • Man... Lazy Union employee take pride in other people screwing up. How about NO recalls on GM products for a while? Or how about you buy a new GM car and you do not have to take it into the shop for some sort of repairs in the first 60 days?

You probably should have done a little more research guys. I own an American car too (I've never owned an import out of 7 cars) but let's get real. In 2005 - Ford recalled 3.8 million trucks because of potential fires. This one recall represents more vehicles than evry recall mentioned in your links (times 3) And it's just one recall from one year.

    GIVE IT UP, GUY.

Your efforts will NEVER affect Toyota sales. Protectionist attitudes wont either. You have to build a better product to do THAT. You just cant beat QUALITY, and Toyota still is the one to beat.
