How convenient. Pat Riley is coming back after the All-Star break?

So when the Heat were a ton of games under .500, Shaq and Wade were hurt, and the team was about to hit rock bottom, Riley goes off to have his hip surgery. Shaq's back, Wade's back, the team is almost at .500 and in the thick of the muddled Eastern Conference playoff race. Conveniently, Riley says he's ready to come back. What do you think of this...especially after how everything went down after the Stan Van Gundy resignation?

omg i totally thought the same thing after i heard he was making his return!!! i found the whole thing very fishy from the very beginning. i thought.... why the hell did he decide to get the surgery now that the season has started, why not wait til the season is over??? and then he says he's going to come back all of a sudden because he's apparently "ready". phil jackson missed an entire season to recover before he returned from hip surgery. i guess pat riley is so "tough" that he only needs a few months. wow. after all he's achieved, i didnt know he was superman too.

the person who said he's an "opportunist" is absolutely right. and this just shows what kind of coach he is...

pat riley always decides to xome back when the team is doing well. when the team stinks, he says he needs surgery, then someone comes in and does a good job, and he takes the job over again. Somebody should really think about hiring Stan Van Gundy as a head coach because he was good.

I agree, and I've lost a lot of respect for Pat Riley, playing these little games like this. I don't care how great a coach he is or how much he's accomplished, you just can't be a 'fair weather' coach. Not fair to the team and the other coaches.

It is what it is...everyone around basketball knows that all you have to do is be healthy and peaking at playoff time...especially since so many teams make the playoffs...you dont think they gave Shaq that big contract to play every game during the regular season did you? Its all about the playoffs...

I noticed he comes back when they are wining that's not good coaching ... Last year he took over when he saw the team had a good chance of winning. I think he is an opportunist.
