Do you think it is wrong for a Christian to be interested in mythology?

Any time a person gets comfortable around things of the occult it is potentially dangerous. We have been so conditioned to the occult we hardly notice that Frankenstein's Monster, Dracula, Ghosts and Zombies are all perversions of the story of Christ's Resurrection.

It's a safe assumption that anything that distorts or takes away from the glory of God, will most likely be frowned upon by God. Atheist belief, like most belief has little to do with truth, but one thing is pretty much accepted by everyone. If there is an all powerful creator, you don't want to be on his bad side.

I have always been a fan of mythology, the stories are entertaining, and it is educational to try and piece together how human thought process and reason developed in primitave man. I have never been a fan of religious dogma, the minute somebody tries to tell you "right" from "wrong" a flag should go up. People know right from wrong when they see it, but they do not have the authority to define it. That authority rests with a Higher Power...God.

When you have an ethical question about something, ask Him, you might be suprised by the answer.

Plus, many things we call Myths are already coming true these days. When people overpopulate the land, a new Atlantis would be found. The red full moon is borne through the unison of light and dust, the chimeras are the subject of cruel experiements (Read BBC news, there's a subject un it. Mad scientists made something with a ear.)

It's good to be prepared when the time comes, when myth is mere fact. It should take more than religion to retard broadening of wisdom, like a trauma to the head maybe?

No. There is nothing saying you can't be INTERESTED in mythology. If u find yourself starting to believe in the gods/goddesses i would stop being into it for a while since it is against the christian religion to worship other gods. ;)

To some people Christianity is a myth (I'm not one of them), everyone is allowed to have their own opinions. Why would any stories be wrong to read? Are we still in the dark ages where clergy dictates society? I thought the torture was over, apparently it's not.

Good luck and I really hope you do read it. It's fantastic to say the least. Not everything is real including your beliefs. We know they aren't real right? Stories should be taken at face value instead of seeing the devil in everything.

There is nothing wrong with study-of any subject. A mature Christian should be able to handle that. A recently saved person is an easy target for Satan. They should stay away from all other religions until they at least have a real good grip on their theology. Just think-how many people believe that Oprah is a Christian, or that Mormons are? It is easy to be misled early in Christianity.

I hope I get the same welcome you have gotten in this list, as I have begun to place questions on the "Religious and Spiritual" list that give the basis of Pagan and other religions not attached to the Old Testament.

No. it is never wrong as they are also a part of this. Christianity never teach that you should not believe Mythology. Mythology is also a part of it.

No, not at all. The mind is limitless and should not be confined to a single belief. It is wonderful to be open to all the possibilities of the unknown.
