Valentine's Day is against the ancient culture in India. I read about that today. There are tons of protest going on in India right now.

It could mean that he forgot, he was running late to get home to eat dinner, there were no more roses left in the flower shop, or he got tired of doing the same stuff each year. It could be many reasons why. You just need to ask him. Don't make it a big deal, just treat it like another day and tell him you love him and give him a great big hug! Your love is what counts!

My Indian husband doesn't see V-day as a big deal either. Now I have trained him to do something for the kids but I know better than to have any expectations for myself. Just one of those cross-cultural difficulties I guess.

Does your husband KNOW you want a gift? Does he give a lot of gifts all the time?

If not, then next time, don't hint around. Tell him upfront what your expectations are.

There have been times that I've given my husband a list of things to buy me and where to buy them. I don't care--he's just like that. He's a great guy otherwise.

I like valentines day but don't like the idea of it. Who made it that this is the day you show ur love? If u really love a person, then u don't need to prove that love on a desginated da each year, ur supposed to show it to him/her everyday, not some special day for showing luv. And if u both luv each other s much, than u don't need to worry about something so small. Who know's, maybe he thinks like me.

This happens a lot of times in relationships.

He probably is not in tune with these kind of holidays, like women are.

Suggest going out for dinner on such a day, then you won't be so disappointed.

It's just another day, oh, I forgot, you're one of the million materialistic, selfish women out there that expect "valentine's day" to be another birthday party thrown for you.

What'd you give your husband? Your attitude since you didn't get your way? You're making yourself miserable.

Valentine's Day is basically a western concept. If he doesn't buy into it, let it be.
