Personally I use NetObjects Fusion MX, the latest version (Fusion10) currently retails at Amazon.co.uk for about £125 - thankfully my copy I got for free 5yrs as part of the £400 of Free software 1&1 Internet throws in with their "1&1 Home" + "1&1 Business" hosting packages and above - they also throw in a rather thick instruction booklet telling you how to use it. http://www.1and1.co.uk/?k_id=3794345

A cheaper option is "CoffeeCup VisualSite Designer" from http://www.coffeecup.com/designer/ which comes on a 30-day free trial, then costs $49 US dollars to unlock for permanent use after that...... thanks to the current US/UK Exchange rate, that works out at £25

An even cheaper option is nip down to your local newsagents, and see what's on offer on the cover CD-ROM's of the various computer magazines......... I've built up bloody loads of free software & games from collecting them over the last 7yrs.

Finally, check out "Serif Pageplus SE" from http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/software/PagePlus... - the only downside is you've got to submit your e-mail address, and they send you various product offers every now and then.

There's also a shareware earlier (version 3.0 - shouldn't be too bad, I started off with a copy of version 2.0 off the magazine CD-ROM) of Netobjects Fusion here: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Web_Authoring/H...

And a trial version of Fusion MX here: http://www.download.com/3000-2068-10001854.html

$99.95 / £51 to buy after the trial expires

    I use Eversoft 1st Page; http://www.evrsoft.com/

When I first started using it the program gives 3 start options, Beginner, Intermediate and Professional. You can start with Beginner as it have less buttons and simple look. Then progress to more complicated levels as you become familiar with every thing. It free but I think now when it start it try to sell the Full Blown. I use 1st Page 2000 and the new one is 1st Page 2006 "I think" and if you click on 1st Page 2000 it take you to 2006 so that the one you have to get. Luckily I saved the Download of 2000 and it not try to sell anything.

Also, you really need a basic understanding of HTML code even with a program that do it for you. It really will make a difference when you understand what your Web Publishing Program does and at times you can manipulate things manually.

One last thought. You can work off line with this and it show you the Web View so you know everything correct before you upload to your web-site. Including links to your other pages.

Well, if you know html, I have this program called First Page 2000. You could try tripod.com, geocities.com. On geocities your site name will be like www.geocities.com/youryahooid/page.html. This is a lot of typing just to get to one site but I usually create a domain at www.dot.tk to make it like www.sitename.tk. Well I hope this helped. Ask if something is unclear.

    Source(s): Well I'm a beginner webmaster.
  • http://www.wetpaint.com/ is the best website that I have ever used and it is free. If you really want to set off on making a new website this is the place to it at. It has step by step intsructions so you can have a successful website.

It all depends on taste. Some are more difficult to use than others, some are nicer to beginners. You have to find something you want to try, try it and see if you like it. Kind like asking me which girls you should date. I'm positive that I would date a different girl than you would.
