Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. There will be no changes to other Yahoo properties or services, or your Yahoo account. You can find more information about the Yahoo Answers shutdown and how to download your data on this help page.

Rather than completely deleting someone's Yahoo account, why doesn't Yahoo only keep that account from...

...using the Answers forum. I think that would eliminate a lot of possible problems from someone losing their email account.

At least they could send a final warning that your account will be deleted?

Ideas?

I would certanly like to be ablet o deactivate certain aspects and keep others, but Y!A strikes me as an "all-or-nothing" kind of site and forum.

I think that's how it should be too. If you're "misusing" YA, then you should be barred from it, but maintain your account itself so you can still use email, etc.

Not sure if they'll ever change it though...
