I think you should start off slow. Don't over do it... 10 Min the first day and then 15 min a couple of days later. It is important to listen to your body and if it hurt or is telling you something act upon it. If your back hurts stop walking and a stretch(which you should always do anyway). This gos for anything

well, I know walking 20-30 mins a day is a good amount but since the treadmill doesn't allow much resistance I would add about 10 mins.

it all depends on your health right now, what you and your doctor consider to be 'in shape', and how fast you walk. advanced treadmills have set programs that can help you but heads up. in the long run, treadmills are not very good for your joints if you use them frequently for years.

The treadmill is tough on the mind. If you can go twenty hard minutes four times a week I think that would be a great start!!

Do squats, toe raises, or stair stepping while brushing your teeth. You're supposed to brush at least twice a day for 2 minutes a pop... it adds up... Or... figure 8's (a bellydance practice/technique) with your waist while doing laundry or drying your hair..assuming nobody's watching... Oh, and the best time of day to work out is early afternoon.

You should do a minimum of 30 minutes, preferably 45 minutes, at the highest incline you can handle. This is the most effective.

walk? more like jog or run. you would have to walk for hours every day to get the cardio you need to stay in shape.

you should do at least 30 minuets. then add about 10 to 20 minutes per week......then go from there.
